Safety & privacy

A safer introduction, not a clinical record system.

Ethnotherapy helps adults discover and contact therapists. It does not diagnose, prescribe, store therapy notes, process client session payments, or replace emergency services.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 9-1-1. For suicide crisis support in Canada, call or text 9-8-8.

Verified professionals

Applications include license or registration details, jurisdiction, liability attestation, identity screening, and a criminal-record screening workflow. Students and associates need a verified eligible supervisor and are labelled as supervised practitioners.

Private communication

Inquiries remain in protected in-app threads. Notifications contain no message or clinical content. Attachments are not supported. You can block or report a participant at any time.

Video introductions

Instant calls are one-to-one, end-to-end encrypted, and capped at 20 minutes. They have no recording, transcription, screen sharing, file transfer, or clinical documentation.

Report a concern

Use the report control on a profile, inquiry, or call. For urgent platform safety concerns, email safety@ethnotherapy.ca. A report may trigger suspension and credential or background revalidation.
